Reindeer antler wrap feet
Estimate ribbon or garland feet to wrap lighted yard reindeer antlers from antler path length and wrap turns for Prince William County lawns.
feet = antler_path_ft × turns × pieces × (1 + waste%)
When to use
Use this for wrapping outdoor lighted reindeer antlers with ribbon, tinsel, or thin garland.
Measure one antler centerline with a soft tape (base to tip along the curve), then multiply by turns and piece count.
Soft-tape length along one antler curve.
How many times ribbon spirals base→tip.
Usually 2 per deer; count all deer antlers.
Knots, bows at base, wind trim.
Worked example
Example defaults — 3.5 ft path × 4 turns × 2 antlers = 28 ft; +15% → buy about 32 ft.
Start at the skull base and spiral outward so ends tuck under the last turn.
Outdoor wired ribbon holds spirals better than soft satin.
Second example: one input changed
From the defaults (One antler path (feet) = 3.5; Wrap turns (spirals) = 4; Antler pieces = 2; Waste / bow % = 15), the calculator shows:
Wrap path total: 28.0 ft
Buy with waste: 32.2 ft (~10.7 yd)
Now raise One antler path (feet) from 3.5 to 5.25 and keep the other entries. The result becomes:
Wrap path total: 42.0 ft
Buy with waste: 48.3 ft (~16.1 yd)
Comparing the two runs tells you how sensitive the answer is to that one measurement. If a small change in it swings the result a lot, measure it twice.
Limits / assumptions
Units: feet and percent.
Assumptions: similar antler paths; even spiral spacing; ribbon follows the path (not short-chord jumps).
Not a substitute: full-body deer harness wrap estimators.
Do not wrap over hot lamp housings. Keep trailing ribbon out of mower paths and pet chew range.
FAQ
Tinsel garland instead of ribbon?
Same feet math; thicker garland may need fewer turns.
How many deer?
Multiply pieces: 3 deer × 2 antlers = 6.
Body belly wrap?
Measure belly circumference × turns separately — not this tool.
Yard spacing of deer?
Use lighted deer spacing.
